Surtek is seeking a chemist or engineer with 2+ years laboratory experience in wet chemistry methods for its Golden, Colorado location. Additional experience with surfactant chemistry, oil and gas industry, core analysis, and enhanced oil recovery processes is desired.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing evaluations in support of development and testing of chemical formulations used for enhanced oil recovery.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
• Wet chemical assays of alkalis, surfactants, and polymers • Measuring physical properties, such as density and interfacial tension of various chemical formulations • Testing performance of chemical formulations in coreflood experiments • Analysis of results of tests
Job Requirements:
• 2+ years experience in laboratory setting with emphasis on wet chemistry methods • Proficient with Excel and Word • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Fluent in English • B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Geology, Engineering, or Physics
Preferred:
• Experience with core analysis techniques • Knowledge of surfactant chemistry • Geology background • Strong team player • Motivated self-starter • Experience in oil and gas industry • Mechanically inclined
Physical Requirements:
• Frequently ascends and descends stairs, sometimes while carrying glassware or other equipment • Reads fluid quantities in small test tubes from a close distance • Remains in stationary positions, either seated or standing, for extended periods of time • Occasionally lifts objects up to 50 pounds • Communicates verbally with other employees and sometimes clients
