Frequently Asked Questions
We have a chemical formulation that yields very low IFT's. Can't we just move forward with that?
Short Answer:

Low IFT's is only one of many criteria to evaluate.

Long Answer:

One key difference with SURTEK is that we design your flood using reservoir rock and fluids.  Interfacial Tension just measures results with water and oil.  Each field has characteristics that make a specifically designed formulation critical to the success of the project. For example, once tested in your reservoir rock, we might find that your surfactant is heavily adsorbed by reservoir rock and recovery is very limited.  It is essential to use reservoir rock and fluids and to test the designs with controlled corefloods.  There are literally thousands of possible chemical combinations.  You need to be assured that you have one that works with your particular field.
