Numerical simulation provides a thorough understanding of the geologic and reservoir parameters that are significant to the production performance. It also permits optimizing oil recovery through studies of alternate exploitation plans. These may include waterflood, and chemically enhanced oil recovery.
A reservoir model is generated using the engineering-geologic data and history matching the reservoir performance. A forecast of the future performance is then made for various operating conditions.
The objective of numerical modeling an oil field is to determine the most profitable exploitation plan that fully utilizes the resource. SURTEK has used numerical simulation since 1991 to evaluate EOR processes in over 30 reservoirs throughout the world.
