Harry Surkela founded Surtek in 1978 with the goal of providing clients with unbiased, independent engineer, laboratory and operational expertise for Enhanced Oil Recovery projects around the world. He has over 50 years in research and implementation of EOR with a specific focus on Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery.

Elio joined SURTEK at the beginning of 2011.  Prior to his tenure at Surtek, Elio was a Senior Reservoir Engineer for the ExxonMobil Development Company working on new project development and start-up of off-shore waterflood projects in Angola and Russia. Elio speaks Spanish, Portuguese and Japanese. Elio holds a B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering and a M.Sc. in Mineral & Energy Economics from the Colorado School of Mines

Malcolm joined SURTEK in 1980. During his tenure, he has designed micellar-polymer, mobility control polymer, alkaline-polymer and alkaline-surfactant-polymer floods for multiple reservoirs with over 45 of the designs being implemented in the field.

Kon joined SURTEK in 1980 as a Chemist, and has held multiple positions throughout his tenure. Kon now leads our Engineering Department as VP of Engineering. His primary areas of research are focused on the translation and implementation of laboratory results to field performance using classical reservoir engineering techniques and numerical simulation

James became a part of Surtek in September, 2019. He has a B. Sc. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Utah. After a time with the ExxonMobil Development Company as an Environmental and Regulatory Lead he left to pursue a management position in Sundance Resources Group. 

Mehdi joined SURTEK at the beginning of August, 2018.  Prior to Surtek, Mehdi was a Polymer EOR Group Leader at Tiorco and an RD&E Group Leader at Nalco Champion.  He has several publications on Surfactants and EOR and holds a B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from the Petroleum University of Technology, Iran, and a M.Sc. and PhD in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Kansas
